There has been lots of excitement during the day as we safely arrived and settled into our woodland accommodation. With good weather in the New Forest too, we enjoyed a picnic lunch outside in the meadow. 

After lunch we enjoyed a scavenger hunt to familiarise ourselves with the amazing site here. We then had a go at pond dipping finding lots of different wildlife that live in a pond habitat. We then used our Geography skills to plan our walk for tomorrow using OS maps. We have also been busy researching native animal, plant and tree species. We will be New Forest experts on our return to school! 

We ended the day with a campfire and songs (hence the later than planned blog post!) and some reflecting on the successes and fun on day one of residential!
