"Houses" at the Schools of Woolton Hill are named after 4 of the constellations

Cygnus

Houses serve as a way to group the children into smaller communities, fostering a sense of belonging and friendly competition. They promote teamwork, leadership, and good behavior through inter-house activities, sports, and events. Additionally, houses provide opportunities for students to develop social skills and a sense of responsibility, while also encouraging a positive school spirit.

Our Houses

At the School of Woolton Hill we have four house teams. All children are placed in a house and work together to earn House Points for their team by following our school values. Our Year 2 and Year 6 House Captains have been voted in by their house team. They represent their house and the school by leading House activities and meetings, leading school tours and leading their team in House events such as Sports Day.

It is very special to be chosen as a House Captain (of Aquila House) because I can support and care for the house as well as celebrate our successes together. I can also work with the other House Captains and I am very excited to tour new children around this brilliant school!

Across the Federation each class is represented by two School Councillors who have been elected by their class.

The School Council meet regularly to organise whole school fundraising events and to discuss how we can further improve our schools. School Council meetings are also held in class to discuss the classes views and enable them to input to decision making. School Councillors have opportunities to feedback to the school leadership team so that our children's views are shared and acted upon.

Our School Council have raised lots of money for charities through bake sales and other fundraising events. They have also supported the ordering of new playground equipment to help all children have happy and active playtimes. Mrs Foulkes and Mrs Johnstone support our School Councillors in this valuable leadership role.

Our Reading Buddies are trained to support younger children with developing their language and vocabulary through sharing books together; talking, listening, extending language and reading.  Each week they visit the infant classes in EYFS or Year 1 and help younger children to extend their language and develop their same love of reading and books!
