Global Neighbours

We are working towards a bronze award

Serving Children, Schools, and the Common Good

At The Schools of Woolton Hill, we are proud to be working towards the Bronze Award as part of Christian Aid’s Global Neighbours accreditation scheme—an inspiring initiative that helps schools nurture young people to become thoughtful, compassionate, and active global citizens.

Why Global Citizenship Matters

Children today are growing up in an increasingly globalised and interconnected world. Our daily lives and local communities are influenced by global forces—from the opportunities presented by technology to the pressing challenges of inequality, conflict, poverty, and environmental degradation.

Even the youngest in our classrooms arrive with questions, concerns, and emotions about the world they’re beginning to understand—often shaped by media and personal experience. At The Schools of Woolton Hill, we believe it’s not only our role but our privilege to help them make sense of these issues in a safe and supportive environment.

Our Commitment

We are working towards the Bronze Global Neighbours Accreditation, which will see us embedding global awareness into all aspects of school life.

Develop values, attitudes, and skills that enable pupils to respond thoughtfully and responsibly to global issues

Incorporate global themes into teaching and learning, encouraging critical thinking and informed discussion

Promote courageous advocacy, giving pupils the confidence and tools to stand up for justice and sustainability—both close to home and around the world

What We’re Doing

To achieve this accreditation, we are focusing on five key areas:

1

Leadership and Vision – Placing global citizenship at the heart of our values and strategic planning

2

Teaching and Learning – Exploring global issues across the curriculum in meaningful and age-appropriate ways

3

Pupil Participation – Encouraging children to lead and take part in initiatives that drive real change

4

Collective Worship and Reflection – Using assemblies and spiritual practice to reflect on global responsibility

5

Community Engagement – Building strong partnerships with local and global communities to inspire action.

Why It Matters

This journey is about more than meeting a standard—it’s about preparing our pupils for the future. Through this work, our children will not only gain a deeper understanding of the world they live in, but also the belief that they can shape it for the better.

At The Schools of Woolton Hill, we are nurturing a generation of courageous advocates: children who act with empathy, lead with integrity, and aspire to create a fairer, more sustainable world for everyone.
