Deuteronomy 32: - "Remember the days of old; consider the years of many generations; ask your father, and he will show you; your elders, and they will tell you".
Headteacher's Update

A huge thank you to our amazing pupils and staff!
Despite the unexpected burst water pipe at St Thomas’ on Friday, everyone showed incredible flexibility and teamwork. Thanks to the rapid response from Miss Knapp and our staff team; we were able to keep learning going by relocating to the Junior School site. Pupils not only continued their lessons but also enjoyed all the planned Children in Need activities. What a fantastic example of resilience and community spirit!
This week, I couldn’t be prouder of our children. They showed great respect and thoughtfulness during our Remembrance activities on 11 November, taking time to reflect and honour those who served.
In addition, their enthusiasm and generosity in supporting Children in Need has been truly inspiring. These moments remind us of the values that make our school community so special—kindness, empathy, and a sense of responsibility.
Children in Need
Our School Councillors have organised a brilliant day full of fun, cakes, competitions, spots, Pudsey art and more! Children have loved being challenged to wear their pyjamas to school and as a Federation we have raised over £500 for the BBC Children in Need charity.
Our councillors have been courageous advocates for the charity, raising awareness in worship this week and helping our school community to understand more about families living in poverty and challenging times. They know that the money raised will help children all over the UK through supporting over 4,000 different children's charities.

Rope Climbing Frame
We have made the decision to remove the rope climber at St Thomas', this frame has provided lots of fun over the years it has been up but it is no longer fit for purpose on the site and could be better used elsewhere in the local area, not least because it is actually better suited to older age junior children.
We hope a local Newbury park will take the rope climber frame and re-purpose it. The space will be opened up providing more space for our EYFS children in Hedgehogs to play and be creative. Look out for this change in the first part of the new year.
Loose -Parts Play
We have been delighted to receive some great donations for our loose-parts play at lunchtime. Thank you to those who have helped us out so far. Children are really enjoying the more open-ended and creative ways to play over their lunch break and we have loved watching them create...dens, potions, imaginative storylines, collaborative projects and large-scale water runs!
We are still looking for some wooden pallets, a water butt and child sized hand tools and brushes. Please look at our request poster and see if you can help with a donation?
Starting Infant or Junior School in September 2026?
Does your child start junior school in September 2026? Do you know someone who is looking for a school place starting in Year R at St Thomas' or in Year 3 at Woolton Hill Juniors next year? Come along to our open morning to meet staff and children and to see our brilliant Federation in action.
