At the Schools of Woolton Hill we are re-establishing the once positive connection with our link school in Uganda, The Bulera School.
This week children in Year 1/2 and Year 3/4 have enjoyed a talk, workshop and exploration of Ugandan artefacts from Rev Canon Dodi Marsden. Through our Geography curriculum, our children thoroughly enjoyed hearing more from Dodi about the Bulera School, the village, country and in Year 3/4 its most famous National Park.
Dodi really fired up the children's passion for children's rights and raised their awareness and understanding about injustices in the world. Our children are planning to take on some courageous advocacy work, towards the end of this term, so that they can raise awareness of the challenges faced by some communities in Uganda.
They are also planning some fundraising work to support the Bulera School and when Dodi visits Uganda, in the autumn term, she will be taking out some of our children's stories and artwork so we can link up the schools through sharing our cultural stories and 'this is me' artworks.
