Headteacher's Update

Year 6 had a brilliant week at Calshot. I really enjoyed the time I spent with them and seeing how well they were working together as a team. I hope you've had a chance to look at the daily updates via the blog and have seen the fantastic range of activities that the pupils have enjoyed. Their behaviour has been excellent and the children have been a credit to our school. I would like to thank the our amazing team of staff for all of their hard work in providing this opportunity for our pupils.
Parish Eco Event
On Saturday 17th May children from our Federation joined Miss Knapp running a stand at the Parish Eco Event. The event was well attended and our Schools of Woolton Hill stand was enjoyed by visitors who wanted to learn more about what we do to promote outdoor learning, respect for nature and increasing biodiversity on our school sites. We had so much to share and the Eco Team representatives did an amazing job talking to people and explaining what we do in our Outdoor Learning lessons as well as in Eco Club.
We did some valuable 'networking' too and have made links with Hampshire Wildlife, the Countryside Council and the church Eco group. It was great to see some families come and visit too. The Eco Team were able to share their designs for a wildlife pond and also give out the seed bombs they had made in Eco Club, they hope other families can start growing wildflower too to encourage pollinators into their gardens.
School Uniform
As we move closer to the end of the school year, I'm sure some parents will already be looking ahead to purchase items for the new school year. Most items can be bought from a supermarket and items with logos can be ordered directly from our supplier Price & Buckland. Click below to access further information on this.

Sensory Garden
We are delighted to share a new Eco Garden space at the Junior School, which has been transformed by William and Thomas to provide a sensory space, full of herbs and sweet smelling plants.
We hope to attract birds and pollinators to the space and provide a calm area for outside ELSA sessions too.
Our Links to Uganda
We are delighted to announce that 'The Schools of Woolton Hill' are rekindling our special connection with 'The Bulera School' in Uganda. This meaningful partnership offers our children a unique opportunity to broaden their global awareness and engage with important themes of education and children's rights.
To begin this renewed link, children in Key Stage 1 and lower Key Stage 2 will explore Uganda as part of their Geography lessons, learning about the region, its people, and culture. This learning experience will be enriched by a visit from Rev Canon Dodi Marden, who will be visiting our school this summer to share insights and stories from Bulera School.
In addition, we will use this topic to introduce our children to the UNICEF Rights of the Child, helping them understand the importance of education, equality, and well-being for children across the world.
We look forward to fostering a meaningful connection that will inspire our pupils and strengthen our commitment to global citizenship. More details will follow in the coming months as we embark on this exciting journey.
