Headteacher's Update

ree

A huge congratulations to all the pupils who took part in the summer concert today. What a joyful celebration of talent, teamwork, and confidence! From the first note to the final bow, you filled the playground with music, laughter, and pride. We have very talented children at St Thomas'.

On behalf of all our staff and governors I would like to wish the children leaving us next week all the very best in their new schools and wish you all a very happy summer holiday.

Wednesday 3rd September will be an INSET so we look forward to welcoming the children back to school at 8.45am on Thursday 4th September 2025.

School Based Nursery Consultation

We’re now in the last few days of our public consultation to open a school-based nursery at St Thomas’ Infant School. If you haven’t yet shared your thoughts, there’s still time to make your voice heard.

This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape a new early years provision right at the heart of our community.

Consultation closes on Sunday 19th July — don’t miss out!

Thank you to everyone who has already contributed — your feedback matters!

Staffing Update

We have recently been putting the finishing touches to our team at the Infant School. Please join me in welcoming, Michaela Bessell to St Thomas Infant School where she will be working as a learning Support Assistant.

I am delighted that we have appointed Gemma Worthington as our new Admin Officer at St Thomas' Mrs Worthington will be taking her up her new role, as soon as we have appointed someone to replace her as a teaching assistant on Otters class.

School Uniform

As we move closer to the end of the school year, I'm sure some parents will already be looking ahead to purchase items for the new school year. Most items can be bought from a supermarket and items with logos can be ordered directly from our supplier Price & Buckland. Click below to access further information on this.

What a Year

That’s it! The school year is nearly done.  But before as a PTA, we all log off for a well earned summer break, we wanted to give you a bit of an update on how your generosity has helped the school and children, as well as a flavour of what we have planned for the next academic year.

So far the PTA has been able to donate over £4,000 to the school this year.  It’s gone on a whole range of items, from supporting theatre visits, to the author’s visit on world book day, new books for the libraries at the schools, leavers’ gifts, a benevolent fund, supporting the junior and infant school council’s and many other things!! With your help, we’ve been able to work really closely with the school, to make a real difference and provide a richer school experience.

Plans for Next Year

We have bold plans for next year, with some ambitious projects to fund as well!  We intend to continue with the successful discos, run more movie nights, Woolfest (Save the Date: 26 June 2026!) of course, and also keep an eye out for a colour run early and quiz night coming in the Autumn term!

Fantasy Football League

We are launching fantasy football league for parents and kids to pit their wits against each other. Can you beat your child??  We have secured an EA Sports Goody Bag for the winner, complete with the latest EA Sports FC game, and other EA goodies!  There will be other spot prizes throughout the season, so even if your team drifts off the pace, then you’ll still be able to win!  The first team is £10 per team, and each additional team will be just £5.  Conscious football returns during the summer holidays, You can register your interest for this here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScwfm4GKSlNH12zyuAz7du57FxreHhi_vse9w5hKCpdbFydqA/viewform?usp=preview

And finally

We can only succeed with the help and support of both the school and parents. If you would like to get involved in any way do drop us a line at friendsofWHJS@gmail.com – we’re a friendly bunch!

Enjoy the summer!!
