Headteacher's Update

What an exciting few weeks it has been across the Federation. It was wonderful to see the school community come together to enjoy the musical performances, excellent food, fun and games of WoolFest. Highlights included a fabulous football tournament, our wonderful choir performing as well as the appearance of a hot air balloon! This Woolton Hill tradition continues to be one of the highlights of the school year and I would like to thank The Friends of The Schools of Woolton Hill for their hard work and organisation.
I would also like to say a massive thank you to all the helpers who give up their time on a regular basis to come into school and make such a difference by listening to children read, keeping our school library looking so good and the PTA for their continued support in fundraising for our school.
As I write these words we are setting up for this years Sports day. I'm confident that we will be treated to some excellent examples of sporting brilliance and sportsmanship. Thank you to all of our families who for coming along to cheer on the children. Thanks too, to Miss Calder-Hoath and the whole staff team for their efforts setting up and running the day.
Staffing Update
After 20 remarkable years at the heart of St Thomas’ Infant School, Debbie West is preparing to take semi-retirement from her role as our much-loved admin officer on the front desk. Since joining us in 2004, Debbie has become an institution—welcoming generations of families with warmth, kindness, and a reassuring smile. While we’ll miss seeing her at the front of house each day, we’re delighted that Debbie isn’t going far. She’ll continue to be part of the St Thomas’ family next year, supporting us in a new, behind-the-scenes admin role.
We are now recruiting for a new Admin Assistant to work in the reception area at St Thomas' from 1st September 2025. For more details see this advert:
Woolfest
We hope you enjoyed this year's Woolfest, and thank you for all of the survey responses. Over 95% of parents that responded to the survey gave the event four or five starts out of five! However, we also had some really helpful feedback, The PTA have already met to discuss how we can improve the event. We'll be making some tweaks to bring an even better event to everyone! As well as having fun, together you managed to raise over £4,000. All of this money goes towards supporting the education and experience of the children at the school! Thank you!
Car Park
We’ve recently had a near miss in our school car park at the junior school, and we’d like to remind all parents and carers to take extra care when driving on site:
Please drive slowly and remain alert at all times.
Be especially aware of children cycling or walking nearby.
Always check carefully before reversing.
Please switch off your engine if you’re waiting—idling creates exhaust fumes that children can breathe in.
Let’s work together to keep our school environment safe and healthy for everyone. Thank you for your continued support.
Key Stage One’s Wild Adventure
Our Key Stage One children had a fantastic time on their recent trip to Marwell Zoo! From spotting majestic giraffes to giggling at the playful penguins, the day was packed with excitement and wonder. The children returned full of stories, smiles, and a love for wildlife.
Year 2 Leavers Service
Our Year 2 pupils recently took part in a beautiful Leavers’ Service at Romsey Abbey, celebrating the theme of God’s Wonderful World. The children shone with confidence and joy as they shared reflections on their artwork, read thoughtful prayers, and sang with heartfelt enthusiasm. It was a truly special occasion, marking the end of their Key Stage 1 journey in a spirit of gratitude, creativity, and community.
