Headteacher's Update

It was wonderful that the whole Federation, including parents, could come together at St Thomas' Church this week to celebrate Harvest Festival and collect items to donate to West Berkshire Foodbank.

The children performed superbly, including a variety of songs, poems, and readings from across the Infant and Junior schools.

It was great to see the Church full and I would like to thank all of our families for supporting this event and donating so generously to such a good cause. Thanks must also go to Reverend Christine for leading our Worship.

WHJS School Grounds Morning

We would like to invite parents and the local community to come to a grounds clearance morning at the Junior School on Saturday 8th October starting at 9:30am. During this session we would like to continue to clear the area running from the field to the new outdoor camp. This will involve clearing out brambles, nettles etc, edging the existing path and laying woodchip. This will then allow children to walk safely along the path to the camp area and sit on tree stumps around the camp fire for sessions.

If you feel that you would be able to spare some time to come along and help please RSVP so that we have a rough idea of the numbers.

Open Days

Is your child starting school in September 2023. Perhaps they will be transferring to Junior School next September? We have upcoming Open Days, where you can see our brilliant schools in action.

Parents Evenings

These will be taking place on Tuesday 1st November and Tuesday 8th November from 3.30pm to 6pm. Appointments can be booked via the Arbor Parent Portal and will become available to book from 9am on Wednesday 12th October. Further information will be sent out early next week. Children in Years 1 & 2 have already signed up for access to this portal which was used to sign up to our previous parents evening. Any new families will receive details next week via email.

Driving/Parking

Please can we remind everybody about parking/driving around the school at drop off and pick up times. Please DO NOT park on the single yellow line as you enter Church Road before the layby as this causes a dangerous situation, there are children crossing the road walking to school from the Parish Field and cars driving in to Church Road cannot see what is approaching from the opposite direction.

When parking and driving around the school, please ensure that due care and consideration is shown at all times to ensure the safety of our children. Can we also ask that this information is passed on to all people who drop off and collect children from school. Thank you for your continued support to ensure the safety of all concerned.

Uniform

Please can you ensure that ALL uniform is clearly named. We have many items of clothing we cannot reunite with the right children as they are not named.

Every child should be coming to school with a water bottle containing water and not squash please. Thank you for your co-operation.
