Outdoor Learning Funding Approved

The Friends are very pleased to announce that we have approved £9,500 of funding to support the first stage of the Outdoor Learning school development project. This step will see the construction of outdoor teaching spaces and equipment, for use across the whole Federation.

This work will create a new outdoor learning area, used by Reception to Yr6, to partake in regular outdoor learning regardless of the lovely British weather! There will be a mud kitchen, a water play area, a sensory walkway, a den building structure, moveable boot storage units and an outdoor sink for washing up after.

There will also be a new covered pathway to connect the existing buildings to the woodland path, improving access to the existing woodland area.

Creating this learning area is the first stage in building the whole Outdoor Learning environment; later work is planned to refit the existing LEAP building with more suitable flooring and possibly create a nurture space. More details can be found in the design proposal document here:

Thank you so much to all the fantastic support we get from you, the families at our events, that we are able to help the Federation fund this amazing project with your generous donations! We look forward to another year of fun and fundraising to be ready to support the school team with the next stages of the plan.

Stuart and the FWHS Committee.
