Headteachers Update

Children have really enjoyed learning in the sunshine this week!

We continue to work hard to improve the learning experience that our children enjoy at St Thomas'. You may have noticed that there are several changes to the learning environment. This includes the creation of a new library area where we will be able to teach specific research skills.

During the summer holiday we will be undertaking a large building project to create an enlarged outdoor learning area for the 44 pupils that we expect to be welcoming to Year R in September. Recently we have had installed brand new Interactive whiteboards in each of our classes and this week we have received delivery of 16 brand new I-Pads to enhance the children's computing skills.

We are very sad to say goodbye to Holly Corbett and Gemma Worthington at the end of this term. Holly has contributed to the school in many ways over the last six years including being a Governor, a weekly volunteer in the classroom, a TA and a support worker. Gemma has also volunteered as a parent helper over a number of years, helped as a TA and support worker and I am delighted that she is moving school with Mrs Watson. I would like to thank them both for their long and dedicated service to the school.

Have a lovely weekend.

Best wishes

Paul Davies

Wrap Around Care

I am delighted to be able to offer families with children at St Thomas', places at the brand new Breakfast Club at the Junior school. These sessions will start from 7.30am and children will be safely walked to the Infants for the start of school. In addition to the continuing, existing, 'St Thomas After School Club', we will also be offering a Holiday club, starting from Monday 25th July, at the Junior School. Please click on this link to find out more information and to book a place.

For this provision to succeed the clubs need to be used. To help promote the provision and to help parents find out more Casa have started running FREE taster sessions for children where parents can bring their children along and find out more about the clubs. The first of these was last night where the children took part in archery, curling and bowls activities. The next events take place between 3.30pm and 4.30pm on:

  • Thursday 23rd June (Cheesecake Making)

  • Thursday 7th July (Woodwork Robots & Parachute Games)

You are welcome to come along if you are interested in either the breakfast, after-school or holiday sessions. Click here to register your interest. They promise to be a lot of fun!
