Newsletter 11th February 2022

Headteachers Update

Welcome to our brand new newsletter! I hope it will keep you up to date with all of the news from across the Federation, promote the children's achievements, and provide links to any upcoming events and forms. Hosted on our website where you can find quick answers to any questions you may have: a one-stop shop for information.

Many schools are facing high levels of staff and pupil absence, and our Federation has also faced these challenges. We have contingency plans in place for switching classes to remote learning, but I am pleased to say that so far these have not been necessary. This is thanks to the great flexibility and hard work of the wonderful staff team, and I would like to thank them all for their efforts.

Breakfast Club

I am pleased to be able to offer supervision for children whose parents need to arrive early for work in the mornings. Starting at 8am, from Friday 28th February, 'Early Birds' will be a place where children can can take part in a variety of fun activities before school starts.

The School plans to run this club on a trial basis, initially to the end of the school year, in order to establish demand for the service. Although we will not be able to offer breakfast to pupils, we will provide plenty of activities to keep children busy and amused.

Parents will be able to make booking via the Arbor Parent Portal and Arbor App from next week, we will let you know when booking open. Places will cost of £4.50 per session, payable through the school office.

After School Club

We currently have vacancies for a Play Leader and Play Worker at the new After-School Club, that we hope to launch on Monday 28th March. If you would like to apply for one of these roles, you can find out more below.

World Book Day - 3rd March

This year World Book Day is celebrating it's 25th anniversary. The theme this year is 'party', the date for World Book Day is Thursday 3rd March just after half term. Children are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite book characters, for extra fun some classes may have chosen a class theme, your child's teacher will provide more information about this.

Sex & Relationships Education Parental Consultation

We are in the process of updating the Federation's Policy for its Sex & Relationships Education. This is a statutory Policy that all schools must have and forms a vital part of our educational offer. It is important that the school's approach reflects the views of our parents and I invite you to submit your views by completing our survey - link below.

Peer Mentors

You’ll recall we launched the Peer Mentors project last week, see the post here, and they have been doing some great work to support children on the playground. Some of our Peer Mentors have produced some posters to explain what they do! We will be training more Peer Mentors next week.

Governing Body

We have a vacancies for parent governor volunteers which we need to fill as soon as possible. We have always aimed for a partnership with parents which undoubtedly brings great benefits to the children. One of the most significant ways you can help in promoting this aim is to volunteer to be a parent governor. For more information click here

The Governing Body is also looking to recruit a new Clerk. This is a paid role and you can find out more by clicking here.
