Following the announcement from Buckingham Palace of the death of our sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a period of National Mourning has started and will continue until the end of the State Funeral.
The official date of the State Funeral is Monday 19 September 2022. This day will be a bank holiday and both of our schools will be closed as a mark of respect.
The Department for Education has confirmed that normal attendance is expected throughout the National Mourning period, other than the bank holiday.
On behalf of the staff and governors of the Schools of Woolton Hill, I would like to express our deepest condolences on this sad occasion.
This bank holiday will mean that the Lower Junior School Meet the Teacher meeting that was scheduled to take place on this day will be postponed. This will now take place on Monday 26th September, 3.45pm to 4.15pm.
We came together as a school on Friday to pay our respects to Her Majesty and to consider the huge contribution that she has made to our nation. This is a period of time for reflection in response to the death of the sovereign and we will continue to do this in an appropriate manner in class. We will continue to reassure all the children at this difficult time.
