This term, in our Outdoor Learning sessions every class is learning new skills and focusing this term on learning how to make, enjoy and light a fire. Children are learning about the safety involved with fire, how to enjoy it safely and the joy that making, watching and using a fire can bring.
Children in the infants have enjoyed creating large class fires then using them to enjoy hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows. Junior classes have been learning how to light a fire using a flint and steel. They have not only developed new fire skills but also practiced their resilience and team work.
We continue to all enjoy the outdoor learning sessions and can see the benefits these sessions bring for children's Life Learning skills, outdoor confidence, understanding of the natural world and their overall wellbeing. It is certainly a great day at Woolton Hill when classes are learning outdoors!
